December 21, 2018 Web Design Trends To Look Out For In 2019

In the world of web design trends, change is the only constant. Just like all the years and decades before it, 2019 will bring forth new trends that will transform the web design industry and pave the way for another set of trends that will dominate in the coming years.

But for now, here are the predictions and expectations for the trends that will burgeon in 2019.

1. Voice Search

In a recent Google keynote, it was announced that one-fifth of the queries on Google are voice searches. There are a total of 33 million voice-first devices in circulation, and an increasing number of people across all age groups are using mobile personal assistants.

Thus, 2019 will see a drastic rise in the incorporation of voice searches in web design. Another feature that’s slowly gaining ground is the voice user interface or VUI which enables users to not only search but control the device and the website using only their voice.

2. Chatbots and Machine Learning

Chatbots were first introduced 20 years ago, and although they have only been getting better, they haven’t achieved their full potential yet. But more and more websites have started using them recently, because of which exponentially more information is available to analyze for the AI behind the chatbots, thus developing them in becoming essential parts of web design.

Therefore, chatbots will continue to save time for customer service teams by enabling them to focus only on the more complex problems instead of repetitive snags.

3. Micro-animations

Not quite a new and upcoming trend, but micro-animations are definitely going to be more prevalent than ever in 2019. Even the smallest web design company in Kolkata is using them to create more fluid and productive experiences for the user.

Micro-animations are primarily being used to guide users through the website towards conversion points smoothly. As for now, they serve the purpose of changing the colour of a button once clicked or simplifying the captcha, but further down the road, their creative applications are limitless.

4. Minimalistic design

While minimalism in itself is a trend, the primary reason it is becoming a part of web design in recent months is the launch of the mobile-first index as part of the search engine optimization factors. The number of people relying on their mobile devices for information and services is rising rapidly, and Google has acknowledged this to be a driving factor for SEO changes in 2019.

As part of the mobile-first index, a website needs to be highly responsive and fast. Web design companies in Kolkata have started using minimalistic designs to reduce load times, letting bright colours, crisp edges, and open spaces do the convincing instead of slow-loading image-heavy cluttered designs.

5. Video Backgrounds

If a picture speaks a thousand words, then the amount of qualitative information that can be conveyed through a video is boundless. While minimalistic designs aim to reduce load times, videos tend to have a surprisingly high conversion rate.

Going forward in 2019, web design will be a careful balance between video incorporation for higher conversions and minimalistic design for faster load times.

It is essential, if not mandatory; to look out for these trends and prepare for them in advance as failing to do so can be the recipe for a business’ failure.
